Cannes Lions awards 2009
For my first post, I thought it would be appropriate to open up to a various range of marketing. To do so, nothing better than starting with great campaigns, even the best of the year … well from the jury of the 56th International Advertising Festival of the Cannes Lions.
The one-week festival just ended on June 27 by revealing the winners of the 13 categories Grand Prix, Gold, Silver and Bronze Lions…
The big winner is surely Cummins Nitro Brisbane with their famous “Best job in the world campaign”. They even scored a double by winning the PR Lion and the Direct Marketing Lion. According to the Australian News article, the campaign created on a US$ 1.7 million budget has generated a coverage worth US$ 150 millions from what could be quantified.

Despite this great result, Tourism Queensland has decided to call for a AU$ 50m advertising review and will be pitched by few agencies in the coming weeks… Cummins Nitro Brisbane being one of them… result to be announced in August…
Other winners include the Barack Obama presidential campaign by OBAMA FOR AMERICA Washington, USA who won the Titanium and Integrated Lion.
The Design Lion has been taken by McCANN WORLDGROUP Causeway Bay, HONG KONG with great design artworks for NIKE HONG KONG:

The Film Lion has been won by TRIBAL DDB AMSTERDAM for their great work on the PHILIPS CINEMA 21:9 campaign:
